Welding Gases

Dixons provide a range of shielding gases for MIG/MAG and TIG welding as well as traditional gas welding using Oxygen and Acetylene.

In all forms of welding, a heat source melts the metal to form a bridge between the components. The molten metal must be protected from the atmosphere as absorption of oxygen and nitrogen from the air leads to a poor quality weld. The air in the weld area is replaced by a gas which doesn't contaminate the parent metal - this is what is commonly known as a Shielding Gas.

Our shielding gas range has been developed using high purity gases and offers the fabricator the opportunity to improve;

•   Metal transfer rate
•   Weld penetration and bead profiles
•   The overall weld
•   The reduction in weld spatter
•   The appearance of the weld
•   Welding travel speed

You can also reduce labour costs and improve safety by using our larger capacity cylinders or cylinder packs, both available from our shielding gas range.

For gas welding, we offer Oxygen and Acetylene, both of which can be supplied in up to 50 litre cylinders, giving extra capacity than the industry norm.
