Stainless Steel Welding

Due to the precise nature, material diversity, complexity and cost of many stainless steel applications TIG Welding is common for this material.  Pure argon is the most commonly used gas for this process, however, there are wide range of gas mixtures suitable not only for different grade of stainless steel and thickness but also for different end user applications - for example Argon/2.5% N2 is used in many offshore applications due to the anti corrosive properties required by the industry. 

Due to the wide range of metals falling under the category of stainless steel and the specific applications and characteristics, when choosing the appropriate gas, please verify compatability with your welding wire and end user specification.  Detailed in brackets are some broad guidelines for material types.
